Our destination is Machu Picchu, which makes the hike, although difficult in some parts, After your hike, you will be able to get the best view of the Inca Citadel. After your visit to Machu Picchu, you will also be able to climb Huayna Picchu.

Availability on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu 3 days 2 nights

The Peruvian government has strict limitations on how many people can use the Inca Trail (permits are granted to about 200 trekkers per day and around 300 porters/guides with a total of 500 permits issued daily).

For this reason we recommend making your reservation on the Inca Trail as soon as possible, sometimes even 8 to 9 months in advance.

We also recommend booking the Inca Trail tour before booking your hotels, flights, etc., as Inca Trail permits are very limited and sell out very quickly.

Daily departures are available all year round (in January and February, the Inca Trail is closed), although the recommended period for this trek is from APRIL to OCTOBER, because it is the dry season.

ROUTE SUMMARY

Day 1: Cusco – Sacred Valley

Our tour starts from the archaeological site. It is an important place of Inca culture and contains ancient ruins that show the advanced architecture and technology of the Inca times. We end up at the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo and there we rest.

Day 2: km 104 – Winay Huayna – Aguas Calientes

It begins in the town of km 104, near Machu Picchu, and ends in the city of Cusco. Along the way, you can see Inca ruins, impressive landscapes, and Andean villages. After exploring. We will go down to Aguas Calientes and there you will spend the night in your hotel.

Day 3: Machu Picchu – Cusco

We woke up very early to get on the bus to the control and then we entered Machu Picchu, we will have time to explore. We will know the history of the Incas. And we return to Cusco, around 6:30 pm, you will be at your hotel.

Day 1 :

Cusco – KM 104 – Wiñayhuayna – Aguas Calientes

We will start our first day of hiking on the Inca Trail by picking everyone up from their hotels in Cusco first thing in the morning. You may want to have your breakfast at your hotel before your pickup time, but you can also bring snacks. From Cusco, we head to Ollantaytambo to take a train to KM104 (Expedition class train). We will start the Inca trail at KM 104, it is an official Inca Trail checkpoint.

At this official checkpoint you will be asked for your original passport, your Inca Trail permit and if you booked your Inca Trail tour with a student discount, you will also need to show your original ISIC card (International Student Identity Card). In the area there are some archaeological remains that we will visit called Chachabamba.

From this area it will take around 3 to 4 hours to steadily climb uphill to Wiñayhuayna. We will have lunch in Wiñayhuayna. You will also have the opportunity to visit an archaeological site in the area. From here we will walk an additional 2 hours to reach Inti Punku, also known as the Sun Gate.

From here we will have our first view of Machu Picchu, so it will be an opportunity to take pictures before heading to Machu Picchu. We will be in Machu Picchu around 4:00 p.m. where we will have some free time to contemplate the view of Machu Picchu and rest. From Machu Picchu we will take a bus to Aguas Calientes. Where we will have dinner and spend the night at our hotel.

Day 2 :

Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes

We will start our second day with breakfast at 5:00 a.m. at our hotel and then head to the bus station in Aguas Calientes to take the bus to Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is at an altitude of approximately 2400 meters. We will have a guided tour of Machu Picchu that will last approximately 2 hours and then you will have time to tour the ancient city on your own to enjoy the magical atmosphere.

When you feel like you've seen most of the city during the day, you can take one of the buses back to Aguas Calientes and have the rest of the day to wander around, shop for souvenirs, or visit the local hot springs that has an entrance fee of 10 peruvian nuevos soles. You will spend the night in the same hotel.

Day 3 :

Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu – Huayna Picchu - Aguas Calientes

Breakfast at the hotel before returning to Machu Picchu. We will take the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. Depending on your Huayna Picchu entry time you can hike for a while before entering, but they are very strict with entry times, so make sure you arrive on time! You will need to show your entrance ticket to Huayna Picchu and your passport. If you had a student discount when you booked, you will also need to show your ISIC (International Student Identity Card).

It should take approximately 45 minutes to reach the top and once there you can rest from the strenuous and intimidating climb up the mountain, as well as enjoy the wonderful view of Machu Picchu and the surrounding mountains and valley. After going back down to Machu Picchu, you can tour Machu Picchu again or you can return to Aguas Calientes immediately. You can take a bus to Aguas Calientes and from there, depending on your train schedule, take your Expedition train to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo you will be picked up and driven back to Cusco.

Note: The train schedule may change depending on the availability of the train company. There will also be changes to your itinerary and price if you decide to change your departure time or upgrade to the Train. If you booked later than most of your group for your Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, you may not be on the same train as the rest of your group.
