Chachani Volcano It is a volcano located 55km from the city of Arequipa, considered the mountain of more than 6,000 meters above sea level. with the least difficulty of scale in the world. Snow is very scarce at its summit due to the extreme atmospheric dryness.

Day 1 :

Arequipa 2350 m / 7,709 ft - Base camp 5250 m / 17,224 ft

Transfer from Arequipa where we will meet our fellow adventurers, the guide will be in charge of reviewing in detail all the equipment that must be carried for our ascent, Once everything is corroborated we will start our great journey, in our mobility, we will go towards the starting point Chachani (5,000 m. / 3 hours); Then we will take a walk of approximately 02 hours to 5200 meters above sea level, where we will set up our camp. Only one meal is included (05pm. Approx.) so it is very important to bring a snack. Overnight.

Day 2 :

Base camp - Chachani Volcano Summit 6075 m / 19,931 ft – Arequipa

Early breakfast. We start our ascent at 2 am, in a slow march (between 5 to 6 hours); seeing the volcanic mountain range and the towns of Quiscos and Uyupampa. Chachani with impressive views of the snow-capped mountains Ampato, Sabancay, Hualca Hualca and Coropuna, we will continue until we reach the summit where we can see the main crater of Chachani at 6075 m. Arrival at the summit before noon. Then we will return to the base camp and continue until 5000m. Where our mobility awaits us to return to Arequipa.

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Chachani Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Chachani Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, trekking can be done independently. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic.
It really depends on you. How confident are you of being able to find your way around? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.
